AGAIN

AGAIN

I saw this posted today on Facebook.

And thought it would make a good song, considering the moment.

Wake up, take a shower
See a person get murdered
Scroll past some bullshit
Posted by your mother

Pick up the laundry
Drop off the kids
Figure out where to grab lunch
Wonder where it ends

Watch a game of football
Look at your phone through the ads
See a kid in a holding cell
Without mom and dad

See a dozen new angles
Of the death of that guy
Recorded on iPhones
You can get at Best Buy

Make coffee, make do
Make plans to do something
Make another excuse
For why you do nothing

Argue with a friend
Argue with a stranger
With a Russian bot farm
That drives you to anger

Water the lawn
And eat dinner late
Wonder why the whole damn country
Looks a lot like Kent State

Play a new board game
Which one will you choose
You just want to turn your brain off
And you can til you lose

Tell all the kids
It’ll be okay
You don’t like to lie
But what else can you say?

Wait out the storm
Wait til the end
Wait until it happens
To you or your friends

Go to bed informed
Go to bed dumb
Go to bed angry
Go to bed numb

Wonder who’s next
What the new normal is
Wonder if we’ll make it
We’re not meant for this

Will we make it?
Well, we're not meant for this...
